                          The birch's roots reach far & wide

                          to keep it standing tall.

                          I've kept mine hidden deep inside

                          since I began to crawl.

                          They spread throughout my every pore

                          though hidden from plain sight,

                          reaching deep into my core

                          where they can touch my light.

                          They drink this light to keep me strong

                          so nurturing them is key

                          to making me who I am today

                          ​& all I hope to be.
